Russ Bodner Sensei Russ Bodner Sensei owns and operates Westwind Center for Aikido and Katori Shinto Ryu. His martial arts credentials include the rank of Yondon in Aikido (Sugawara Sensei) and Kyoshi in Katori Shinto Ryu (Sugawara Budo). Russ Sensei’s gifts are both physical and intellectual. A college athlete who went on to study medicine; today “Dr. Russ,” M.D., F.A.A.O.S, is a partner at Midwest Orthopedic Institute located in Sycamore, Illinois. Dr. Russ is also a team physician for Northern Illinois University Huskies. Russ Sensei teaches with kindness and compassion; wearing a broad smile on his face both on and off the mat. Westwind Center for Aikido and Katori Shinto Ryu is nestled in the countryside of Maple Park, Illinois. The beautiful dojo – a 5000 square foot training facility with a generous 16 foot high ceiling – opens up to a lovely farmette that Russ Sensei owns and operates with his lovely wife.
